This week’s focus is on the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Brian Dodd gives a great illustration of the importance of the Holy Spirit: “A rower gets to a destination by personal strain, struggle and effort. A sailor arrives under the wind’s power. Rowing is a good way to keep in shape but a lousy way to travel. Sailing taps the power of the wind and allows us to go much farther, much faster, with far less human effort than rowing.”

Living without the Holy Spirit is like being a rower, struggling through life. But living WITH the Holy Spirit is like being a sailor, allowing the wind of the Spirit to move you through life's circumstances.

Read 1 Samuel 16:13. The Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is vital to living the life God created for us. It says, “the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David.” The same Spirit that lived in David is also for all of us.

• Read 1 Corinthians 6:19-20a. Did you know we were actually made for God’s Spirit? He wants to dwell in our bodies like temples.

• What does this mean to you?

• Read Romans 8:26-27. We can’t see the big picture on our own.

• How can you allow the Holy Spirit to keep you in the will of God?

• Read Luke 4:18-19. We need the Holy Spirit to proclaim Christ to our world.

• Is it easy or difficult to talk about Jesus to those you know who are not Christians? Why?
• Do you feel that the Lord has anointed you to tell your friends, co-workers, and neighbors about Jesus? If not, what do you think it would take?

Prayer Focus: Pray the Lord would fill you with the Holy Spirit, so that you can live in the fullness of life that He created you for and that people would come to know Him because of the way you live your life.
