Pastor Anthony opened by asking us, “Is your life better or worse today than it was a year ago?” Later, he encouraged us to ask a better question: “God, what do you want my life to look like in a year from now?”

• Have you ever asked God this question?
• How does it feel to ask God this question?

Read 1 Samuel 13: 11-14

“When you rush God’s timing, it’s not God’s will even if it’s good.”  

• Missing God’s will can be easy to see when things don’t go well.  How can it look if it’s good?  
• How can rushing make us miss the big picture?
• Do you have a life experience you can/will share in regards to this?

 Read 1 Samuel 15:24

• Discuss the struggle between pleasing God and pleasing man.
• How do we please God?

• Read Galatians 1:10 and Hebrews 11:6

God calls us to follow His commands fully, not selectively.  

• Is there anything you’re holding back from God?
• What is difficult to fully trust God with?
• Why is full surrender sometimes difficult?
• Read Matthew 26:39 and discuss Jesus’ living example of full and complete obedience

Read 1 Corinthians 13:12

We as people are much more comfortable with a plan.  God doesn’t generally give us the “why” and will give us the “what” in His timing.  

• Discuss a time when have you experienced “knowing in part…”

Prayer Focus: Thank God for His perfect timing and ask Him to help you wait on it.  Ask Him for courage to surrender and obey.
